Robertson Red Tartan Clan History

Descended from the former Royal House of Atoll, that ruled Scotland during the eleventh and twelfth centuries, the clan’s roots lie in Perthshire. The clan fought at the side of Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn in 1314 and supported the Jacobite cause in the Risings of of 1715 and 1745.

The Robertsons, who claim to be descendants of the Celtic Earls of Athol, are known as Clan Donnachaidh, Donnachaidh Reamar * stout Duncan * led the clan at Bannockburn in support of Robert the Bruce. In
