Thompson Grey Tartan Clan History

Taking their name from ‘the sons of Thomas’, bearers of the name flourished in both the Lowlands and the Highlands of Scotland and became inextricably linked with the nation’s history.

There are also close clan links with Clan MacThomas, Clan MacTavish, Clan Campbell of Argyll, and Clan MacKintosh.

The Thomson tartans are of fairly recent origin, having been specifically created for Lord Thomson of Fleet. These were submitted to the Lord Lyon and registered by him in 1958.
