Baird Tartan Clan History

The name is believed to be of Norman origin and it was a Baird who saved the life of the Scots King William the Lion, who reigned from 1165 to 1214, by rescuing him from a wild boar. Lands were held throughout Scotland, particularly in Lanarkshire and Arberdeenshire, and the clan’s most famous son was Helensburgh-born John Logie Baird, inventor of television.
